Playing Golf is also injurious to health

"In fact is more dangerous to play golf than to swim in the ocean with sharks. More golfers are struck by lightning and killed each year than the total number of shark fatalities."
Says the article given below. Its a wonderful example of how to use statistics. While in many cases the use of statistics makes things more difficult to understand, its in statements like this, I believe it can help us understand too!

Cause of terrorism- women of kerala

"Win over girls, serenade them into terror trap!"

__Screamed the headlines of the Times of India "Nation" page on sept 1st. The journalist, Ananthakrish
nan G, tells us that

"The kerala police have constituted a special team (emphasis added) to probe charges that jihadis are running an organized racket in the states colleges to lure gullible girls in the name of love and convert them for subsequent use in anti-national activities"
I wonder how is the team going to study that? The best mode of operation will be to organize a sting operation. Young handsome men could be posted at colleges to see if the "gullible girls " fall in love with them. If they do, they could then be booked for anti-national activities. Even better would be to recruit young men who are already in love. If they could report to the special team about "gullible girls" they know, then perhaps they could be rewarded and the girls booked.

I wonder how the girls got to be gullible in the first place? Or for that matter what constitutes Gullibility? There was once a movie on TV called Equillibrium (see IMDB here), the movie depicted a future where all forms of feeling was banned and a hero emerges to correct this injustice. The idea was so ridiculous I couldn't even watch the trailer without ROFL (rolling on the floor laughing). Perhaps the truth is stranger than fiction after all!
