I FOUND TREASURE!!

Hi,

I have a mailing list at http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/ob1 . Its started off as a group I put together for the students of my ob1 course. Then they said they wanted to continue being its members. And it grew over time, my students and people who have attended my programmes, etc. I normally dont mix up the two media, but this time, I found some treasure and I want to tell the whole world! Below is my post about it. While this is not as momentous as Linus's email about his operating system, its a big thing for me. Indulge me, please?

Hi,

Some of you may know that I like a crazy psychiatrist called R.D. Laing. Some people say he is a nut case, some people say he sees the world from a different angle. Most of his work is based on a handful of Psychoanlysts, existentialists working together at the Tavistock Clinic. They worked on Post Freudian approach popularised by Melanie Klien ( http://human-nature.com/rmyoung/papers/pap127h.html ) and others, arguably the most notable group of British Psychoanalysts - some of you might remember me talking about Object Relations in class (no that is not a comp science topic- its psychoanalysis). For years now I had thought I had lost touch with them, having moved to business management and cant afford to pay to keep up my reading. Recently I was working on a course outline for a course at XLRI. The course, Management of Relationships, was given a strong psychoanlytic twist by Fr. Cyriac who taught it before me. While researching for that course I landed on a gold mine. I dare say, to me, this is the most significant discovery in the past 5 years, if not much more.

Rober M. Young's site opened up a completely new level of access to their thinking. I want to share with you the treasure I found today. I am personally so excited that I can't even edit this email.

I am aware that not everyone in the world is excited by Object Relations and later development of Psychoanalytic theory, so I suggest you look around the site. The writing is of very decent standard, and it has several interesting online books too.
